DD&K Q&A: Poppy Thorn

Who are you? My name is Poppy Thorn, I’m 23.

What do you do? I’m an alternative model from Worthing, in the daytime I am studying animal care as I want to be a vet nurse.

How did you get to where you are today? Ummm well ;) .. My awesome model friend took me to a shoot with her and made me jump in, then the photographer asked me back. I set myself up a Purestorm account and a Model Mayhem and the rest is history. I have worked with a lot of really great photographers, MUA’s, and designers over the space of 2 1/2 years and have got to know some really great people. Just through being persistant and asking it’s starting to pay off!

Who is your hero? Oohh this is a hard question, I would like to say Bettie Page as she is a huge inspiration to me and is the most beautiful woman I think I have ever seen. My friends and family are all heroes though for putting up with my unruly behaviour.

What colour is happiness? Purple, it’s my favourite colour and I guess it makes me happy.

What is your ambition? I would love to be on the cover of some really well established publications, I would love to work with Rob Zombie and be in one of his films even if I’m just a girl who gets stabbed straight away… I do have a B.A Hons in Acting which a lot of people don’t know and I have always wanted to be an actress so it would be great if I could mix my modelling career in with film.

What country would you like to visit? America, we want to road trip the west coast in October this year, I’m hoping to shoot with some cool photographers when I’m out there.

What are you having for dinner? I actually know what I’m having today, my mum has asked me round after work to have some spaghetti bolognese and to watch The Girl Who Played With Fire.

What’s your favourite song? I have way too many favourites but I think if I have to pick one off the top of my head it would be “No Ceiling” By Eddie Vedder which was written for the soundtrack for the film Into the Wild.

Who inspires you? Christopher McCandless - he was the man Into the Wild is based on, he wasn’t afraid to up and leave society and to persue new and exciting ventures. I would like to live my life by some of his values.

Do you sleep on the left, right or middle of the bed? Left.

What posters did you have on your wall as a teenager? Haha Leonardo DiCaprio when I was like 12 then it evolved into Dani Filth, Marilyn Manson, Kurt Cobain, Christina Ricci, and Daniel Johns From Silverchair.

Who should be banished from the planet? I have been thinking about this for ages now it’s a really hard question. I guess the all of the KKK and the BNP.

What was the last thing you bought? A plug from Little Red One - Custom Plugs & Tunnels.

Where are the answers? At the bottom of a bottle of Sailor Jerrys or at the end of a rainbow?

How much money is in your wallet right now? 3p haha

Which film do you quote from the most? Into the Wild or Labyrinth

What are you really good at doing? I’m good at calming down stressed animals. I’m good at making fairy cakes and I’m pretty good at painting.

How can we make the world a better place? Get rid of everyones debt and start all over again.

Coke or Pepsi? Pepsi but I won’t turn down a nice Cherry Coke though.
